23March2014

Spring is finally springing.  'bout time.
In about 2 more weeks, our spring planting should be complete, which of course means the construction is finally over, with the exception of a few punchlist items, and the maintenance begins.

On February 15, we had a few (30 or so) of the neighbors over for an open house.  Here are some photos from just before and during the event:
Housewarming gifts included orchids that match the Great Room chairs

 the Hostess
Many guests stayed very close to the wine bar...
the Wine Bar
 the Food Bar
the Cloister.  It was a beautiful day!

Mike's office (never looked so good).

Since then, the work has progressed on the exterior landscape design.  I think the landscaper has enjoyed working on a non traditional landscape design:

 Jacob is a great helper!

Installation of the two rainwater storage jars, fresh off the boat from Thailand:

First one (or two) have to get it off the trailer.
Rolling the Jar into position

The Jar is in place. The last steps are connecting to the roof gutter, and connecting to the irrigation system.
Placing the monument stone.  Contrary to previous expectations, the house name will NOT be carved in stone, but spelled out in 3 and 4 inch aluminum letters.
The West Side story, left to right: the 2nd Ong Jar, connected to the downspout; the first of 2 enclosures to protect the planters from roving bands of marauding deer; and the Big Green Egg, mmm good food starts here.

With Spring we've noticed a few new neighbors have been hanging around:

 There they go.....

Wily Red Fox
 comes calling

Stay tuned for at least one more post, as the Spring planting gets established.  Come see us!
